LAK (2019 - Present)
LAK project explores a human connection and fascination with migrating birds and the contradictory desire to nationalise them. The project traces migratory routes of white storks where they are of big cultural or environmental importance. The work delves into the broader concept of movement across borders, parallels across different cultures as well as the interdependent relationship between birds and humans. LAK is a site specific project and is being developed in three countries - Lithuania, Palestine and Sudan that are within stork’s migratory path. Artist moving images as well as accompanied works will be made and exhibited in each country individually.
The project was funded by the A M Qattan Foundation, Lithuanian Council for Culture and Kaunas Artist House.
