Between modernity and tradition in Moroccan folkore (2014)

Created as part of the 3 months residency at Ultra Laboratory in Casablanca, Morocco. The works look at decorative patterns in Moroccan folklore, emphasizing culturally rich influences steaming from Amazigh patterns, Islamic geometry and colonial French influences. Therefore the work refers to folklore in a broad term, avoiding monolithic cliches. Here folklore reflects the behaviour and values of the contemporary everyday. Therefore, the work explores shifting relationships between traditional and modern folk patterns in Moroccan textiles industry.
